Arrived in Pune yesterday, after a terrifying 4-hour taxi ride rife with near misses and bad directions. Merging here is half art-form, half stupid luck. Pedestrians stroll casually into six lanes of highway and blindly assume they won't get run over. Children as young as four or five dart in and out of heavy and disorganized traffic without a shred of fear. Lanes are ignored, or not even bothered to be drawn. Our taxi was deadly close to wiping out a family of three crammed onto a moped. It's becoming obvious that India will be the least favourite country of the lot. Polluted, noisy, dangerous and poverty-stricken, India seems to be a country bent on burying itself under it's own waste and bodily functions.
Our second hotel isn't as nice as the first, but the rooms are massive. We scouted two of our shoot locations today, and will do another two tomorrow. Hopefully we can fit in some down time as well, I'd like to find a part of this city that isn't covered in plastic bags and pee.
More later.
